Our friends Professor Murder have been killin’ it for a minute but I feel it is absolutely necessary to put you up on their new EP, On A Desert Island, which they will soon be releasing for FREE on RCRDLBL.com. Creative Commons: 1, RIAA: 0. Meanwhile check out the single from the EP, which is described as Professor Murder sounding sort of the same and sort of different, but much much better. Three bangers that attempt to connect the dots between NYC in’77, Jamaica in ’85, The East Bay in ‘89, Suburban America in ‘95, Trinidad in ’03 and Atlanta in ’06(!!!).
check out this place called “The Pad” , being built in Dubai, just awarded Best International Apartment at the CNBC International Property Awards in Vegas. It leans at a 7 degree angle and the apartments being built in it can do the following:
…real-time projection feeds [let you] change your outside view…projecting the Caribbean or New York skyline onto your windows….
Bathrooms fitted with equipment that [monitors] your temperature, weight and blood pressure….
…have dinner with loved ones from across the globe via a video conferencing link projected into your dining room…
Rotating living and dining rooms giving you 360-degree views of Dubai…
…reactive lighting that responds to incoming phone calls and the residents’ moods…
The Pad is scheduled to be finished in late 2009. wow, keep your eye on Dubai!
So this morning after a late night in Adams Morgan I got up to go meet the artist that I posted about a month or two ago, Andy Goldsworthy. After talking to Carolyn about being interested in his work she mentioned that they had a connection and had corresponded through a mutual acquaintance. It just so happened then that he and I coincided when I was back in DC this past week for Thanksgiving and he is there working at Glenstone, a 125 acre plot of land in Potomac, Maryland with an extensive private art collection and site specific installations by artists such as Richard Serra and, ahem, Andy Goldsworthy. I went out there with both of my parents and we had a great time talking to him and walking through the space he is working on there, a set of three houses or enclosures containing three different pieces that he is just finishing now. I was really impressed by him in person and he was more than happy to share a few hours with us and talk about various projects he is working on, as well as some of the details of how he produces his work. True to his roots, he works with the same crew of Scottish masons and wall builders all around the world no matter where he goes, and he readily acknowledged their crucial role in bringing his ideas to fruition. Check out some photographs of his work at this amazing digital catalogue of his work from 1976 to 1986.
“I like the way you comb ya hair, I like the stylish clothes ya wear, it’s just the little things you do, that makes me want to get with you!” This is how music videos should still be: the beach, bootie shaking, choreography, come on man, y’all know the deal! Why can’t people just have a good time? I don’t need to bust guns when I’ve got a girl playing saxophone on the beach! For those that don’t know, a young Imperial Skateboard P working for Teddy Riley wrote one of the verses in this song…”Teddy Riley Knows” t-shirt is forthcoming.
So Gil aka Agent 0 is OUT FOR THREE MONTHS, and Wizards fans are hurting. I was thinking about the bright side though and we were saying last night down in Adams Morgan that if the Wizards keep winning and the role players / bench get some good practice out of this then Gil can come back in three months and they still might have time to make & smash the playoffs. Anyway Nacho Libre, DC fans’ hearts are with you through these dark times. Check out Gil’s blog for more…
