One of my favorite painters on the scene out in the Bay Area has always been Tiffany Bozic ever since I first laid eyes on her work and saw her interview on the Dithers DVD. Well she is having a a solo show out in LA from the 24th of this month until June 21st which I am planning on checking out when I head out there in June, and you should too! It is at the newly renamed Kinsey/Desforges Gallery and Trippe over at FF already did a quirky little interview with her recently about her work.

Throwback Jam of the Week #12: Aaliyah - Back & Forth

— Sean @ 2:57 pm

I was only 8 years old when this one dropped, but I still remember hearing it on WPGC (turning 20 in 9 days!) and WKYS back in the day and it was a seriouuuus jam that launched Aaliyah’s career. This throwback was partially inspired by the amazing new Aaliyah tribute issue of thefader that just hit newsstands, be sure to check that one out. In other news, for anyone reading this, I’m done with college! Yup. Great feeling, great day to be listening to Aaliyah.

After signing with the Rhythm King label, Boo got her first taste of success guesting on the Beatmasters’ 1989 single “Hey DJ I Can’t Dance (To That Music You’re Playing),” which reached number seven on the U.K. charts; in turn, the Beatmasters appeared on her 1990 single “Doin’ the Do,” which also reached number seven due to the novelty of Boo’s pop-rap approach and on the strength of the single’s quirky, low-budget video…
